Hypnosis to Rev Your Metabolism!

Hypnosis to Rev Your Metabolism

www.doctoroz.com

In my own hypnosis practice, I work with a lot of people to help them loose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  In particular, I specialize in helping people who need to loose weight for major medical reasons, such as those who have diabetes type 2 or who have had bariatric weight loss surgery.

British hypnotist Paul McKenna has been a guest on the Dr. Oz Show a couple times now, talking about how hypnosis can be used to boost your metabolism, control cravings, and keep the weight off.  If you have not already seen these episodes, you can find them on the Dr. Oz Show website.

Targeting Stress Reduction Helps Prevent Addiction Relapse

Reward-Stress Link Points To New Targets For Treating Addiction

www.sciencedaily.com

Being as I am someone who knows the power of hypnosis to reduce stress levels (and that hypnosis is also known to raise dopamine and endorphin levels in the brain without any drugs) — I couldn’t help thinking while reading this article of just how much recovering addicts can benefit from hypnosis!

It has been widely accepted that stress is a major factor when an alcoholic or drug addict relapses, even when they have been abstinent for a very long period of time. It is also known that drug or alcohol use causes an increase dopamine levels in the brain, which make a person feel good. It makes sense that the mind then associates alcohol or drug use with relieving stress.

The following article discusses new findings in brain research targeting the actual mechanisms of the dopamine-CRF interaction which lead to relapse. Understanding this process could lead to new approaches for silencing this cell interaction.

“The findings suggest a new target to consider for therapeutics that might address stress-induced reinstatement,” says Danny Winder, Ph.D., associate professor of molecular physiology & biophysics at Vanderbilt University. “Such a therapy would be extremely valuable. Essentially all of the pharmacotherapies for addiction to date help people get through the withdrawal phase. There’s really nothing available to reduce the likelihood of relapse.”

(But I would say hypnosis is available as one very good option!)

Visual Cues Are Critical to Controlling How Much We Eat

Mindless Eating

www.sciencedaily.com

What do you do while you are eating your breakfast, lunch or dinner?  If you are like many Americans, in our fast-paced culture, then you are probably busy multi-tasking during many of your meals.  It is so common for folks to be watching TV, on their phone, working on the computer, or something else while munching away on snacks or a meal.  And it is true that many who do this also routinely overeat and have trouble loosing weight.

“The human stomach isn’t designed to keep accurate track of how much we have eaten. In fact, it takes about 20 minutes after we eat before our stomachs register that we are ‘full.’ Visual cues are critical to controlling our much we eat,” according to Brian Wansink, a food psychologist at Cornell University.

He goes on to explain how plate size makes a difference as does minimizing distractions and paying attention to what you are putting into your mouth while you are eating.

Why Do You Continue to Eat Something that Really Doesn’t Taste Good?

Habit Makes Bad Food Too Easy to Swallow

www.sciencedaily.com

So this was an interesting article I came across on how “habit” can make us eat something that in actually doesn’t really taste good at all.  USC researchers conducted a study at a movie theater where they gave each of the movie goers a bucket of week-old stale popcorn.  Those folks who rarely ate popcorn at the theater did not eat very much of it.  But those who had an established habit of eating popcorn at the movies were found to eat just as much of this old stale popcorn as they usually did with good fresh popcorn.  It didn’t matter to them if it tasted good or not!

David Neal, a psychology professor at the University of Southern California, says: “When we’ve repeatedly eaten a particular food in a particular environment, our brain comes to associate the food with that environment and make us keep eating as long as those environmental cues are present.”

Loose Weight with Hypnosis Virtual Bypass Surgery

In 2011, I became a Certified Bariatric Surgery Support Consulting Hypnotist at the the National Guild of Hypnotists annual convention. If the following article interests you and you’d like to have the same experience, please give me a call!  The program I am trained in is not only for virtual weight loss surgery, but it was specifically designed for working with anyone who has actually had bariatric surgery (bypass, banding, sleeve) and has continued to struggle with their weight.  Altering your anatomy is not usually sufficient for permanent weight loss — your must also alter your mindset as well.  Hypnosis is Bariatric Surgery for the Mind!

http://suncoastpinellas.tbo.com

“OZONA – Spiritualists say answers to coping with today’s fears, vexing behaviors and stressful issues can be found in past life regression. Problems people struggle to deal with everyday, ranging from eating disorders to depression, low self-esteem to anxieties and fears can all be traced back to something that happened decades or even centuries ago, in a past life, said Dayna G. Weissfeld, a nationally certified hypnotherapist and master of Reiki, the Asian touch therapy technique.”
